Friday Tip – Use Mickey or Bart not both

imageIf you read our recent newsletter you’ll know we think the visuals in your simulation are just as important as the numbers.

A great tip for making your simulations look good is to use images for your objects of a similar style.  So if Bart Simpson was in a Mickey Mouse cartoon it would look really weird because they’re two very different styles, but Bart in the Simpsons looks right because he matches Homer and all the other characters.

So a great tip for getting sets of icons for your simulations that look good (yes we provide loads of icons for free in our software but no we can’t provide every single one you’ll ever need!) is to use istockphoto. This is a website where you can really cheaply buy icons and usually you get a group of icons in one purchase so you get a matching set.  See the one left for airport simulations as an example.
