Submit your WinterSim Poster or Case Study

We’re looking forward to another year at The Winter Simulation Conference in December. Every year WinterSim invites submissions for presentations in the Poster Session and PhD Colloquium and case study track.

The Winter Simulation Conference (WSC) is the premier international forum for disseminating recent advances in the field of dynamic systems modeling and simulation. This year’s theme at WSC 2016 is Simulating Complex Service Systems. This theme emphasizes the increasingly complex engineered and human systems in highly connected environments, the availability of data to help us model such systems, technological advances which continue to push the limits of computation, and conceptual and mathematical advances which help us to make sense of complex systems.

Poster Information

Submissions are now open for the Poster Session, Ph.D. Colloquium, and Case Studies track, which provide background on established and new methods, tools, and application domains. Participation is limited to one or the other; submission to both the Poster Session and the Ph.D. Colloquium is not allowed this year; see the Ph.D. Colloquium page on the WSC website for colloquium options.

Deadlines and Requirements

August 15, 2016: Deadline to electronically submit 2-page extended abstracts for presentations in the Poster Session and Ph.D. Student Colloquium and case study track. Submissions must be made through the WSC website. Extended abstracts are used for designing the tracks, but are not peer reviewed parts of the proceedings.

September 19, 2016: Notification of acceptance to authors (including details about submitting slides, and formats of the posters).

October 3, 2016: Final extended abstracts due.

October 24, 2016: Slides for the presentation is due (see guidelines on the WinterSim website)

December 11, 2016: Bring your poster to the WSC 2016. The Poster Madness Session and Ph.D. Colloquium both run on Sunday December 11, so participation in both is not possible.

Case Study Information

The Case Studies track provides an excellent opportunity for professionals across all industries to share real world simulation projects. Attending and speaking in this track will not only allow you to share your work, but it also provides an excellent opportunity for networking and learning how others are using simulation in their industries. Summarize the project in a short, 2-page extended abstract and submit it to the Case Studies track. If the case study is selected, it will appear in the final program of WSC, on the WSC Archive website and the author will give a 30-minute presentation at this year’s conference in Washington, DC. The abstract should, at a minimum, describe the problem, the simulation methods used, the results, and the impact/benefits of the project.
