Production Modeling India (PMI), an Industrial Engineering Consultancy firm, has launched its third annual Simulation Competition in various universities in Nagpur, India.
With increasing number of industries appreciating the applicability of simulation, there is a need for industry professionals in India to be conversant with simulation methodology. This competition provides a platform to students, even before they enter industries, to understand and work on a real world simulation problem.
Free SIMUL8 Student licenses have been provided to each of the participating students to build their own simulations and come up with recommendations/solutions to the given problem.
Students are evaluated based on the quality of the simulation model built, the approach to solve the problem, and the final report containing simulation analysis and recommendations.
During the competition PMI are also providing active support to participating students including running free workshops on how to use SIMUL8 software.
The winners of the simulation competition will be invited to present their work at International Simulation Conference of India (ISCI) in January 2014, and students who perform exceptionally well are offered employment opportunities at PMI.
Students from four different universities have participated in the competition over the past two years and it is expected that more universities will participate in the coming years.
This is a great opportunity for students to gain experience of solving real industry problems through simulation analysis and SIMUL8 are really excited to be providing the software for this.
